With its closer proximity to the mainland, Islamorada has a nice variety of accommodations. There are many beautiful Islamorada hotels and Islamorada resorts – most of them right on the water – and there are campgrounds and RV parks, as well. There are also some fantastic Islamorada vacation rentals. Check with the vacation rental agencies listed for their inventory of rental homes and condos available for your Islamorada vacation.

There is even an Islamorada marina that rents houseboats complete with propane energy, a kitchen with a refrigerator, and toilet and shower, and fresh water. These houseboats have sleeping room for six people. In order to rent one of these, however, you need to be experienced in running a boat of this size and able to read navigational charts.

Be aware that there are some different rules concerning lengths of stay here. In most places, you are not permitted to stay for only one night on a weekend. In order to attract business from the mainland, they are big into three-day holiday weekend packages in the area; at these times, higher seasonal rates may apply. Take time to look into locally celebrated holiday weekends, as there are likely some with which you are unfamiliar.

Children are almost always welcome, and there are several pet-friendly Islamorada accommodations.Before you call for reservations, have in mind what you want from your stay. There are accommodations on both sides of the Overseas Highway, so consider whether you want to see the sunrise, on the oceanside, or sunset, on the Florida Bay side.
